This still is from a Horror film. You can tell this because of the eerie lighting and the scared expression on Alicia's face. The shot is of a frightened Alicia trying to escape from something by hiding in a small hole in the wall. It is an MLS so you can clearly see the facial expression but ca still see the background and the action. The light only slightly revealing Alicia's position could be because she has just been found and that she may be about to be the next victim.
We placed a light to the top right of the frame to keep half of Alicia in the darkness to show that she is hiding. The hands placed to be pushing her back show she is trying to escape in the hole not to get out. Having Alicia facing the camera with a startled expression to show that she has just been noticed.
I feel that the lighting gives a very horror type feel to the shot and it makes you feel that part of the action is happening right now and that something scary is about to happen. The facial expression captures the audience and instantly associates itself with the horror genre.
In hindsight I would have cut off a small portion from the top of the frame to remove the pipe and make it more focused on Alicia's expression.
